Suffern Dance Registration, Fees and Dress Code

Registration, Supply Sales and Suggested Dress Code

Register in person at the Suffern branch of the YMCA. You may print and fill out the registration form now and bring it with you to save time a the Y.  Dance costumes and shoes may be purchased at the Y.  Click here for a printable PDF file giving guidelines and 2008/2009 calendar for the Suffern Dance programs.

Dress Code Requirements

  • CREATIVE MOVEMENT:  any solid color leotard, pink or white tights, leather pink ballet slippers.
  • CLASSICAL BALLET:  black leotard, pink or white tights, skirts are optional.
  • JAZZ AND HIP HOP AND GYMNASTICS TUMBLING: any solid color leotard and tights or unibike and appropriate shoes.
  • TAP, JAZZ AND THEATER DANCE:  black leotard, nude color tights, skirts and black dance shorts optional and appropriate shoes.
  • HAIR FOR ALL CLASSES: Must be neatly pulled back and up off shoulders.  Buns are required for classical ballet

If you dress like a dancer you will feel like a dancer!  Please do not wear street or baggy clothes to lessons.  Please purchase your dance shoes and supplies before the first day of classes.  Any questions, please contact Becky Hallisey at (845) 357-4404


Fees for November 2008 through June 2009 Dance Programs

YMCA Membership Fee (Applies in all cases)

All classes require at least one member of the family to be a member of the YMCA.  The membership fee for a youth is $75 for the year.

One Class by One Child

For the period of November 2008 through June 2009, the fee for one child with one class is $315 paid in equal installments of $105 due November 1, January 1 and March 1.  A $10 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 10th of the month that it is due. 

Unlimited Classes by One Child

For the period of November 2008 through June 2009, the fee for one child with unlimited classes is $675 paid in equal installments of $225 due November 1, January 1 and March 1.  A $10 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 10th of the month that it is due.  There is no discount for two or more children attending unlimited classes.

Two Classes by One Child (10% Discount on Total Tuition)

For the period of November 2008 through June 2009, the fee for one child with two classes is $567 paid in equal installments of $189 due November 1, January 1 and March 1.  A $10 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 10th of the month that it is due. 

One Class by Two or More Children in the Same Family (10% Discount on Total Tuition)

For the period of November 2008 through June 2009, there is a 10% discount on the total tuition due for the number of children from the same family attending.  The tuition is paid in three equal installments due November 1, January 1 and March 1.  A $10 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 10th of the month that it is due. 

Refund and Make Up Policies

Credit will be issued on request.  There are no refunds.  Missed classes may be made up at your convenience by attending the other regularly scheduled sessions of the same course.  There are no special make up sessions at the end of the session.
