Suffern Dance Registration, Fees and Dress Code

Registration, Supply Sales and Suggested Dress Code

You may register now for the regular schedule of classes (registration form) starting September 13, 2010.  Dance supplies may be purchased at the Suffern Y on September 9 and 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and on September 11 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Dress Code Requirements

  • CREATIVE MOVEMENT:  any solid color leotard, pink or white tights, leather pink ballet slippers.
  • CLASSICAL BALLET:  black leotard, pink or white tights, skirts are optional and pink ballet shoes.
  • JAZZ/HIP HOP, GYMNASTICS TUMBLING AND KIDS YOGA: any color leotard and tights or unibike.  Shoes: appropriate tan jazz boot - white leather gymnastics shoe - Yoga bare foot.
  • TAP, JAZZ, MODERN, LYRICAL AND THEATER DANCE:  black leotard, nude color tights, skirts and black dance shorts optional.  Shoes: Combo classes (Grades K-4) - black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes; Upper Level classes - tan tap shoes, tan jazz shoes; Modern and Lyrical classes - foot thongs.
  • HAIR FOR ALL CLASSES: Must be neatly pulled back and up off shoulders.  Buns are required for classical ballet

If you dress like a dancer you will feel like a dancer!  Please do not wear street or baggy clothes to lessons.  Please purchase your dance shoes and supplies before the first day of classes.  Any questions, please contact Becky Hallissey at (845) 357-4404 Ext 304.


Fees for September 13, 2010 through June 2011 Dance Programs

YMCA Membership Fee (Applies in all cases)

All classes require at least one member of the family to be a member of the YMCA.  The membership fee for a youth is $80 for the year.

One Class by One Child

For the period of September 2010 through June 2011, the fee for one child with one class is $440 paid in equal installments of $110 due the first week of September, November, January and March.  A $15 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 15th of the month that it is due. 

Unlimited Classes by One Child

For the period of September 2010 through June 2011, the fee for one child with unlimited classes is $960 paid in equal installments of $240 due the first week of September, November, January and March.  A $15 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 15th of the month that it is due.  There is no discount for two or more children attending unlimited classes.

Two Classes by One Child (10% Discount on Total Tuition)

For the period of September 2010 through June 2011, the fee for one child with two classes is $792 paid in equal installments of $198 due the first week of September, November, January and March.  A $15 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 15th of the month that it is due. 

One Class by Two or More Children in the Same Family (10% Discount on Total Tuition)

For the period of September 2010 through June 2011, there is a 10% discount on the total tuition due for the number of children from the same family attending.  The tuition is paid in four equal installments due the first week of September, November, January and March.  A $15 late fee will be charged if the payment is later than the 15th of the month that it is due. 


Refund and Make Up Policies

Credit will be issued on request.  There are no refunds.  Missed classes may be made up at your convenience by attending the other regularly scheduled sessions of the same course.  There are no special make up sessions at the end of the session.
