Welcome to the Rockland County YMCA
North Rockland Programs
As a non-profit, mission-driven organization, we're a powerful association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community.
The YMCA is the one of the largest providers of high quality, deliberately affordable school-age programs in Rockland County. Every day at our School Age Child Care (SACC) programs, we help hundreds of children reach their fullest potential in a welcoming, supportive environment. By incorporating the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into all of our youth services programming, we give children the solid foundation they need to thrive—not only in school, but beyond.
Our office in Stony Point serves as the headquarters for our before and after school care program for kindergartners through middle school in cooperation with North Rockland School District.
Before School Care
Held onsite at Thiells Elementary School from 7:00 to 9:00 AM, and breakfast is included. Students who do not attend Thiells Elementary are bused to their respective schools in time to start the regular school day. Discounted rate for upper elementary school students since their school day starts earlier.
After School Care
There is an after school program serving each upper (James Farley, Haverstraw, and Willow Grove) and lower (Stony Point, Thiells, and West Haverstraw) elementary school from dismissal until 6:30 PM. The Y's primary goal of after-school care is to provide a quality, affordable, safe place for children to go so that parents have the freedom to work, knowing that their children's needs are being addressed. Children have talents and skills to develop, energy to use and huge reservoirs of creativity to explore. Our programs run every day until 6:30 to accommodate our working and commuting parents. .
After Kindergarten Care
All kindergarteners from the AM session of the North Rockland Central School District are welcome to attend our program. Children who are registered in our K-Care program will be assigned to the morning kindergarten classes. Those attending West Haverstraw Elementary are escorted to the program after their morning class. Students attending the other elementary schools will be taken by school bus to the program at West Haverstraw Elementary at dismissal of their morning class. Lunch is included (at West Haverstraw Elementary). The program runs from 11:30 AM until 6:30 PM.
Admission and Registration Information
Admission is on a pre-registered, first-come, first-served basis with special consideration for children who need care five days a week. Children must be registered for at least two days per week.
