The Rockland County YMCA provides child care services for toddlers (18 months to 3 years old) and preschoolers (3 to 5 years old) at convenient sites located throughout the county. Care can be either full or partial day depending on your needs. Separate classes offered for toddlers and preschoolers. Each day, participating children are involved in art, music, science, movement, language and outdoor play activities that support rapid learning and development of socialization skills.

Our professional teaching staff receives ongoing training through workshops, classes and conferences. They are committed to the YMCA tradition of advocacy for children and provide top quality care.

As a community service, the YMCA runs a small child care program at the Rockland Family Court in New City. Through this program, on-site child care is provided for children of parents or guardians with business at the court.
The Rockland County YMCA maintains two full day NY State licensed day care facilities.
The Suffern YMCA Children's Center ,YCC, is located at 91 Washington Ave., Suffern, NY, 10901. The YCC is open Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:30 pm year round except major holidays. The Rainbow Connection Child Care Center (NAEYC Accredited) is located at 75 S. Middletown Road, Nanuet, NY, 10954. A two week deposit along with a $30 processing fee and a youth membership ($75) is due at the time of registration. The two week deposit will be used towards the last two weeks of attendance. The Y's Beginnings nursery school, which has an enrollment of about 200 children has adult/tot, toddler and preschool programs throughout the school year and a separate summer program for toddlers and preschool. The school is located at the United Methodist Church at 18 Parkside Drive, Suffern NY 10901. This location is a short distance from Mahwah, NJ, as well as being convenient to residents of western Rockland County.
During the school year, Y's Beginnings offers adult/tot classes for children from 18 months to 2 years old with accompanying adult once a week on Fridays for 1.5 hours and Toddler and Just Three's classes for children 2 to 3 years old ( no parent participation) for 2 hours at the Parkside Drive location. Preschool at Parkside Drive is offered for children 3 to 5 years old for 2.5 hours in the morning and afternoon. Children may attend two, three or five days per week. We offer five day a week Universal Pre K classes for four year olds as supported by the New York State Department of Education. The nursery school rooms are play centered environments with a wide range of materials and activities designed to give each child the opportunity to learn according to their individual interests and needs. Every day, an array of new ideas and experiences are presented, and our teachers gently and warmly guide the children. In this way, we can promise your child a year full of fun and active learning. All classes follow "The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and Toddlers". The four year olds also are instructed in handwriting following the "Handwriting Without Tears" program taught in the Ramapo School District.
Y's Beginnings follows the Ramapo Central School District holiday closing schedule.
