The YMCA School Age Child Care Program serves the parents and school children of Clarkstown, Nyack, South Orangetown, North Rockland and Ramapo Central School Districts by offering before and after school programs at local elementary schools through the fifth grade.
These programs provide a closely supervised and carefully planned set of activities before and/or after school that meets the educational and child care needs of working parents and their school children. Parent involvement in planning is welcomed and encouraged.
All sites are licensed by New York State. The Montebello, William O. Schaefer, Haverstraw Middle School and Woodglen programs hold the distinction of being the only after school programs in Rockland County accredited by the National After School Association . Only thirty-six programs in all of New York State have achieved this status. The YMCA is working towards obtaining accreditation for all of its school age child care programs.
Admission is on a pre-registered, first-come first-served basis with priority given to children needing care five days a week. Children must be registered for at least two days per week. Upon registration, specific days must be chosen and adhered to. These programs are very heavily subscribed. If you wish to enroll your child for September 2010 for the first time, it is recommended that you put your name on the waiting list in January 2010. See the links in the right sidebar for more details on the programs offered and click on the School Age Care Parent Handbook image to open a PDF file (118 KB) of the Parent Handbook giving comprehensive details of the program and operational policies.

We understand that it's not easy to take days off from work when schools are closed so we provide children kindergarten through the fifth grade with fun-filled days at our Nyack Facility during school breaks in December, February and April. Children may attend on days needed. The clubs run from 8 am to 6 pm with a fee of $65 per day. Children attending the program are advised to bring lunch and a towel, swimsuit, swim cap and goggles. Cap and goggles can be purchased at the Member Service Desk.
The YMCA also has multiple Summer Day Camp programs for ages 2 through 13 at locations in Suffern, Nyack and Stony Point. Click Here for the Nyack Summer Camp information flyer and registration form for children grades K through 5.
