Rockland CEO Highlights Benefits of Youth Sports as Fall Programs Begin
As summer fades and the school year begins, local youth sports programs are gearing up for their fall season. With the start of these programs just days away, CEO Phil Donnelly reflected on the importance of athletics for children's development.
"Olympic years are always special," the Donnelly noted. “We anticipate added enthusiasm from our young athletes who were inspired by figures like Kate Douglas and LeBron James. I can see the excitement even in my own two sons as they get ready to start their fall sports.”
The physical benefits of sports are well-known, but the Donnelly also highlighted the mental advantages, including stress reduction, improved mood, and enhanced emotional well-being. "Team sports create a natural environment for kids to make friends with shared interests," he explained. "Additionally, sports provide structure to after-school hours and help children develop time management skills. A child's first free throw or successful flip turn builds their self-esteem and confidence and shows how hard work pays off. We can’t wait to welcome the kids in."
"Game on!”
