Rockland County YMCA Launches New Fitness Program for Older Adults

The Rockland County YMCA is expanding its commitment to older adult community and health with the introduction of Enhance Fitness, a comprehensive exercise program designed specifically for older adults. The evidence-based program, which begins November 4, 2024, aims to help seniors of all fitness levels become more active and independent.

"This program focuses on what matters most to our senior community - staying active, energized, and empowered," commented Dudley Alcidas, Fitness and Wellness Director, Rockland YMCA. "The classes combine cardiovascular exercise, strength training, balance work, and flexibility."

The 16-week program runs through February 21, 2025, with classes held three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. Led by certified fitness professionals, the program is open to both YMCA members and non-members.

Enhance Fitness joins the Y's robust lineup of senior-focused programs, including Zumba Gold, Yoga, Pilates, Functional Fitness, and various aquatics classes. This addition further strengthens the Rockland County YMCA's commitment to whole life wellness.
