 Jean's Story
 

During covid we had no classes. Jean and Marsha started coming in and would do Zumba via YouTube, where Jean gained a love for  the art. She loved it so much she decided to get certified as an instructor and began working here at the Rockland YMCA in 2021. She was nervous to teach her first class, but she persevered through that with 6 members. Today her class is in such high demand and the members love it. There's an energy in the building on Tuesdays & Thursdays when the members come in the building for her class, and they are so excited. Now her class averages 20 people per class.


 Maureen's Story

I started this class to feel stronger and keep my sanity during Covid! The class is perfect for me. Weights, aerobics, stretching exercises all in one. I can get in and out of the car easily, and climb the stairs a few times a day. And now, I can easily get up and out of my chair with much less effort. My arms are better too...I can reach way over my head! Unbelievable good feeling! An added bonus: the people in my class are now new friends! Thank you to the Y and Dudley for inviting me to Zoom in and feel physically and mentally better!


 Tom's Story

“The Virtual Group Fitness class has enabled me to maintain a remote regimen of cardio exercise beyond cardio rehab following bypass surgery. Instructor Dudley Alcidas uses simple exercises and stretching methods to strengthen one’s core and joint muscles that help prevent injury by increasing one’s flexibility and tone in support of one’s mobility. The coaching our small friendly group receives is encouraging, informative and supportive. I must say that I and my classmates look forward to each of our weekly group sessions with anticipation to remain healthy.”


 Janice's Story

Dudley's Functional Fitness (FF) Classes not only makes me feel good physically because I'm toning my body, getting strong, building balance, and releasing endorphins into my system, I also enjoy the fun, laughs and camaraderie in the room (in-person and on Zoom) at each class. Dudley provides a very clear direction for all levels of participants from beginners, chair only, to advanced and can adapt all movements to class needs. FF classes and his Breathing/Relaxation Classes fulfill my mind/body and spirit, especially during Covid.
